How are the homes staffed?

The group homes generally have a staff-to-service recipient ratio of one-to-five. There are usually four staff to each group home with one person on duty at all times. Three staff work shifts of 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, or 11pm to 7am from Monday through Friday. The fourth works the weekend from 7am Saturday to 7am Monday. Individuals may be left at home alone at times when staff are taking other individuals to work or appointments.

Homes in the other programs are staffed according to the needs of the individuals and the level of services authorized. For example, a DLS home with three individuals may only have one staff on duty at a time. Another home with only two individuals might have two staff on duty throughout the day due to the higher need of the individuals.
